Missionary Letter August 2009

Dear Fellow laborers in the Lord Jesus Christ,

Hot temperature continued during the month of August down here in Victoria, Mexico.  The thermometer has been in the 100’s for a couple months now.  There was not any rain during August even though it is considered a month of rain.  During this month we have seen some people in the mission work getting discouraged, missing the preaching services and others have totally abandoned the mission.  Thank the Lord; we have also seeing some others coming by the very first time.

Following please find a brief summary of the activities during this month at each mission work:

“Gracia sobre Gracia” mission work

We used to have some people regularly attending the services, but lately we have been holding the services practically only my family and I.  A couple families, attending the other mission work here in Victoria, have been at this mission with us several times in Sunday evening trying to encourage people in this subdivision.  A young man with the name of Pablo was very faithful in attendance to the services but he is not now.  His wife was starting to show some interest in the Bible teachings.  I did talk to Pablo trying to encourage him.  He said he is having some personal problems and that it is the reason he is not attending.  Please pray for this young man and his wife. They have four children.  As far as the children ministry in this mission work, we also started having low attendance; I am seriously considering stopping the children ministry so that we can have another day for visitation and/or other activities.  Please pray for us in this decision.  Please keep praying for this mission work, for this subdivision (called Alvaro Obregon), specially for people who has not attended services any more.

 “Soberano Salvador” mission work

Two families are still attending services at this mission work.  In our door to door visitation, I have had the opportunity to witness and talk to a young couple (Ruth and Hector).  It seems like the Lord is working in their heart. I have given them some literature and especially the lady has asked many questions.  We continue witnessing in this subdivision, many of the homes profess to be Catholic and have never read the Bible.  Pray for us that we may deliver the message of the gospel according to God’s plan and will.

 “Gracia Soberana” mission work

The Lord continues blessing this mission.  The families who attend the services have been faithful so far.  We have also had several new visitors.  This town is experiencing very considerable growth.  I am seriously considering staying for a longer period of time in this area since we need to reach out other subdivisions during visitation.  So far we have hand delivered hundreds of sound gospel tracts along with John and Romans booklets.  People are getting to know about the mission work and the location.  Pastor Marco Cantu is still helping us to cover this town every other week.  Pray for us that we may preach the gospel, and that the Lord may open doors for witnessing.
