Cantu December 2009 Missionary Report

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.  For what is your life?  It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” James 4:14

Another year has gone by, we are now entering 2010!  May God keep our hearts humble and with a desire to serve Him even better, for what is our life?...

We are thankful with the Lord for the blessings, trials and challenges we faced during 2009.

The economic recession was felt everywhere, I would say.  In Mexico, they continue raising the gas price, the government has also made some adjustments to the taxes that will be paid during 2010 (increment).  We thank the Lord He continues using His Church as an instrument to carry out His work.

Thank you to each of the Churches for your support during 2009, even in time of extraordinary economic challenges you remained faithful in supporting the mission work here in Mexico, and that is very much appreciated.  It was difficult to keep up the visitation during the month of December since most of the time the weather was cold and rainy.  When we had some sunny days, paganism showed his horrible face in the neighborhoods with drunkenness and “party” in Christmas celebration.  May God give us better weather, and specially a heart with a constant desire to preach the Gospel.

Following you will find the main activities that were done at each mission work.

 “Gracia sobre Gracia” mission work

While doing house by house visitation I met a man who is reading the Bible but not regularly congregating in a Church.  It seems like the Lord is working on His heart.  He professes to know the Lord as his Savior.  When I started asking questions what he understands and believes about salvation, looks like he was challenged in several areas.  I did like the “discussion spirit” he showed while talking about doctrinal points, and seems like He does want to learn the sound doctrine.  Please pray that we can be an instrument of God as He leads this man to learn the truth in His Word.  Pablo, the young man I have previously mentioned in my letters continues attending the services in a regular basis.  My heart has been blessed to see his wife coming more frequently to listen to the Word of God.  Pray for Pablo as well, he has mentioned he has the desire to be a good Christian and serve the Lord in any way he can.

 “Soberano Salvador” mission work

We concluded the study of the Doctrines of Grace in this mission.  One of the families attending services experienced the loss of a relative.  The father of Antonia died on December the 30th.  He was about 70 years old, sadly to say, when he was approached with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus he was very unfriendly to listen.  May God help us to witness to the rest of the family, may He open their heart and grant them salvation.

 “Gracia Soberana” mission work

We have concluded the study of the Doctrines of Grace in this mission as well. We also went through the study of the Armor of God, and are now going through the doctrine of the local church.  Please pray that God may enable us to teach His Word and that He may give them understanding in these doctrines.  Most of the people attending this mission have been faithful, however there are some that have been discourage by the end of the year. Please keep praying for the families in this mission.
