February 2010 Missionary Letter
Dear
elected brethren in the Lord Jesus,
During the month of February we experienced
again the insecurity that we are facing in some areas of Victoria. While we were in the mission field in Pesqueria,
we were informed by Brother Marco Cantu, that a burglary happened in our house.
The thieves searched everywhere in the
house for jewels and money and messed up everything in their way. They could not find anything since we do not
have jewels or cash. The only precious
and great jewel we have is the one we received from God: Faith in the Lord
Jesus. This happened during the day
time; the main door was forced and damaged. Three days later we were reported that our
family vehicle was taken from our house and left one block away from it. Minor damages were done to the vehicle; they
took a speaker that my son Edgar added to the sound system. We are suspicious the same people returned to
get the car since they could not find jewels or money in the house. Some of you may remember that this is the
second burglary we experienced in seven months. I believe there are some people who have
already noticed we are out of town for several weeks while we spend time in the
mission work at Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon. I
went to the police and made the official complaint but I do not have high
expectations as far as getting results. I am seriously considering an alarm system for
our house; we will have to check on it. In addition to this, Tamaulipas is one of the
states where at this point of time drug dealers have a big region dispute. There are days when you can see the Mexican
army patrolling the streets. Right now
is not a good time for travelling but I decided to make the trip down to
Pesqueria to preach the Word to the brethren down here. My family stayed in Victoria, I traveled by myself by the very
first time in several years. In the
middle of affliction, I marveled because of man’s depravity and then my heart
and thoughts are taken in captivity to the amazing grace of God. A very bad disease requires a greater remedy;
this is what God does with man through the gospel of the Lord Jesus. He takes men out of darkness and brings them
to light. The Lord has protected us, we
have not been physically harm, nor in the faith. Pray for us that we may continue preaching the
gospel to the best of our ability. Following you will find the main activities
that were done at each mission work:
“Gracia
sobre Gracia” mission work
Brother
Pablo remains faithfully attending services. He is also enrolled in the Bible Institute
classes, and has started actively participating in the door to door visitation.
He has also expressed desires to serve
the Lord in any way he can. Please keep
praying for him.
“Soberano
Salvador” mission work
The brethren
in this mission work continue coming faithfully to the services. We have also resume visitation in this area. We had one new visitor, a lady who is
experiencing serious heart issues, her name is Nicolasa.
It seems like she has understood the
message of salvation. Keep her in your
prayers.
“Gracia
Soberana” mission work
We are also
resuming visitation in this area. We have had a few new visitors. The area
where we are preaching keeps growing and more people is coming to live in this
neighborhood. May God help us to
continue witnessing in this area.
