November 2009 Missionary Report

Dear Churches and brethren in the Lord Jesus,

During this month we have started another project that was on hold for some time. We have started what we consider is the beginning of a Bible Institute. Some of the men asked several times for special Bible classes in order to be better equipped to serve the Lord.  Pastor Marco Cantu and I talked about this and feel led of the Lord to start with a couple classes.  He is teaching a personal evangelism class, focusing on sound evangelism based on Bible Teaching and remarking the most common modern errors (i.e. someone leading the sinner in prayer and telling him he is now save without stressing repentance from sins).  I am teaching the Theology class, focusing in the attributes of God.  Attendance to these classes has been high so far.  We are holding the classes every Monday evening via teleconference.  One class is taught live in Pesqueria and the other in Victoria.  A group of people gets together in Victoria and another in Pesqueria.  We were initially considering a video conference but internet service in the Pesqueria area is very poor (low speed), we will have to wait for a better time on video conference.  Telephone calls have worked well so far, we all are excited about this.

Printing Ministry Project

We do not have much sound literature here for distribution.  We have to depend on literature coming from other places or from the States.  This creates a lot of extra effort and cost.  This is at certain point limiting our visitation and witnessing to people.  So we are convinced our final goal needs to be to have printing equipment here in Victoria or Pesqueria.  I do not have any experience with printing process nor equipment but will have to learn.  While on Monterrey, I had the opportunity to do a research on the cost.  A second hand offset printing machine, in good conditions and ready to work, is about $3,000 dollars.  The sales man told me he will give us some training to run the equipment and if it happens in the future that we want to upgrade to a better machine he will take the one in use with a reimbursement towards the cost of the replacement.  The type of machine he is offering me is an Abdick 360 with chain output.  We are low in funds at this point for this project.  If any of the Lord’s churches is led of the Lord to financially support this project, please contact Bryan Station Baptist Church or myself.

“Gracia sobre Gracia” mission work

Our visitation time was very limited during this month in this area due to our trip to Pesqueria.  We continue having some regular visitors and others have been discouraged.  A young man with the name of Gabriel was attending services very regularly but he is not any more.  He lives just next door.  His family goes frequently to a nearby Pentecostal church. Please pray for him, May the Lord teach him the way of salvation in Christ Jesus.

“Soberano Salvador” mission work

As in previous years, Catholicism has been present in this subdivision.  They held mass at some of the houses in this area, as well as marching/dancing of people carrying the image of the “virgin of Guadalupe” around the streets. This is done in preparation of one of the biggest Catholic celebrations here in Mexico: the “virgin of Guadalupe” on December the 12th. We continue with the study of the Doctrines of Grace in this mission work. The brethren faithfully continue attending the services here. Brethren from Berea Baptist were at this subdivision to support us with visitation while we were out in Pesqueria. We did not have any new visitor in this mission this month.

 “Gracia Soberana” mission work

We made a trip to Pesqueria, and stayed there for 3 weeks. The fact of having a rental house there is now giving us flexibility as far as the period of time we can stay there.  While in town, we started preaching and witnessing in the subdivision called “Colinas del Aeropuerto”.  This is exactly the area where we just rented the house.  We ended hanging an ad with the name of the mission and the services schedule in the rental house.  We did have some visitors.  Two little boys and one woman were with us in the Sunday service.  As I mentioned before, we have been told that 10,000 houses will be built in this subdivision and there is not any Christian Church.  The brethren who are attending services in Pesqueria have remained faithful, by God’s grace, at this point of time.  Sister Juanita’s health has significantly improved; she is still under close medical follow up due to the high risk pregnancy, please keep her in your prayers.
