Missionary Report October 2007

Dear brethren, elected in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am writing this brief letter while staying here in Lexington, KY.  We are still rejoicing for the many blessings we received this past week. The Bible conference at Bryan Station Baptist Church was wonderful!

The Psalmist said in Psalm 26:8: “LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth”.

It was a great privilege and blessing to sit down and listen to the faithful men of God preaching HIS Word and exalting our Lord and Savior!

By God’s grace my ordination to the Ministry was complete.  My two sons went through the scriptural Baptism at Bryan Station, joining the membership of the church.  My wife and I were previously received via letter from Berea Baptist Church in Victoria, Mexico.

During this past week, I also had the privilege of preaching the Word of God at Grace Baptist Church in Georgetown, KY (Pastor Coy Cox), and Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Frankfort, KY (Pastor Lonnie Bennett).  Lord willing, I will be preaching in another two churches during this week (Sunday), before we return to the border with Mexico.

No without much controversy in the side of some close relatives and friends, I resigned to the 16 years seniority job that I had in the border back in October the 19th.  They cannot understand how it could be possible to resign a well paid and secure job for starting something out of the ordinary (preaching the Word of God).  I do not expect them to understand.  Please pray that we can be of a good testimony to all of them, and that our God can be glorified for calling sinners saved by His grace, to preach His Word and serve our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

As we get ready to return to Mexico to finalize our preparation and get started with the missionary work in Victoria, we would like to ask for your prayers for the different needs we have:

Housing

The transaction on the house we were trying to buy has not been complete yet.  Now that I have resigned the secular job I had, it would be difficult to complete it.  I did not want to wait any longer as far as my job resignation.  If the Lord closes this door, I believe He will supply for this need.  If we cannot buy a house, we will rent one.

Vehicle for the Ministry

We continue checking on this.  For my previous letters, I explained that buying a brand new vehicle in Mexico will be expensive because all of them are imported.  Dealers have to add the importation taxes and their profit.  After a second verification, I believe that we should be able to get a used vehicle in very good conditions (recent model) with $24,000 US Dollars.

Kids School

Using the opportunity that we live in the very border of Mexico with USA, our kids have been studying at a Baptist School in Brownsville, TX since 2002.  They cross the border every day to attend school.  We do not have plans to enroll them in a public school in Mexico when we move to Victoria.  We will talk to the school principal and will see if we can work any thing out so that they can be recognized as remote students (working over the internet with their assignments).  Currently the school does not have that program and so there are no remote students.  If we cannot work it out, we will move forward with home schooling.

We will be visiting the Victoria area during the end of November and beginning of December to continue checking on potential areas to get started with the missionary work.

Please pray for the above needs and things that we will be facing as we prepare to go out to the mission field.
