Missionary Report October 2009
Greetings to all in the name of our Lord
and only able Savior Jesus Christ.
This past month
for us here has no doubt been one of our busiest since we have come to the
field.
OUR TRIP TO ROMBLON
On October 1st we
were finally able to make the trip down to Romblon. We ended up having to make a short road out
on the seashore in order to get around our neighbor’s wall. I was then able to get the truck in on to the
property there at the Church.
While there, we
were able to sell the boat, and we will be applying the proceeds of this sale
toward the purchase of property for the Church.
The man who purchased the boat had to lash the trailer to the bottom of
the boat and float it all out as one unit.
Seeing the boat sail away from our place for the last time was
definitely a low point for me. But the
positive thing is that we now have a little more than half of the needed funds
to purchase land for the Church.
As I have
previously written, land in Romblon is very expensive partially due to the
scarcity of usable land and also due to many Europeans moving there who can
afford to pay exuberant prices for the land.
The owners of the
land we are praying to buy are asking $38,000.00 for the lot. We sold the boat
for $21,000 and the members of the Church have been able to save $2,000. This leaves us short of our goal by
$15,000.00. Please prayerfully consider
helping with this need as we are quickly running out of time.
TYPHOON RELIEF FUNDS
We were deeply
touched by the generosity of those who were able and willing to send money to
help our Church members who lost so much during the last flood. Most of their
lives are pretty much back to normal now.
Thanks to you folks and your willingness to help.

THE FAMILY
Please continue to
pray for my family and I and the future changes which we will be facing in our
ministry. Some days are filled with
rejoicing while others are filled with weeping.
Indeed, as one writer wisely stated “Life is a series of happy hellos
and sad good-byes.” We are blessed to be
headed for an eternal home where there will be no more good-byes. I will close
this letter with a few words from one of my favorite hymns.
“Sorrow and joy have the same Lord, valley of shadows shall
sing,
Death has its life, its door opens in heaven eternally
Christ is King”
Thanks to all for your love, care and prayers
