Missionary Report October, 2009

Dear Brethren in Christ,

The Bible Says: “Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies”. Psalm 69:16.

The First Baptist Church in the Garden of the Olive Trees baptized three people this month. Paulo, who found our church through our web site and came to hear the truth preached. Pray for his wife who is still a Pentecostal. Also a young couple with two beautiful daughters came to us because of the web site as well. Their names are Salomão and Nilsete.

We also ordained two deacons this month, brothers Manuel and Domingos. They have proved themselves faithful and I pray they will serve faithfully in this work. Continue to pray for the two men that have been called to preach, Luiz Fábio and Rômulo.

Pray with us also about organizing the work in Tucuruí, Pará, into a church. There are six people in the work there. Brother Glailson does the preaching there. Pray for him as he seeks the Lord’s will about the call to the ministry. I mentioned this before, but I mention it again, because it is needful to pray for him. He says he has a great desire to preach the Word of God and that he thinks about it all the time.

I made a trip to Ibicuitaba with two other brothers (pastor João Batista and Hélio) also this month. As usual we went down on Friday and returned on Saturday. We had a service on Friday night and João Batista preached with 14 people present. Out of the 14 that were present, 8 were lost visitors. Pray for their salvation.

The same couple is still attending the services in Tapera. They come from a presbyterian background. Pray for them also.

Lee Ellen’s scheduled appointment with thyroid doctor on October 29th was cancelled. They simply said that the doctor was going to travel and that she should call back on the 13th of December to make another appointment for January. So we are trying to find another doctor. Pray with us about this also.

We are thankful for the faithful support and prayers of the Lord’s churches and people. It is a great encouragement to know that the Lord’s people are praying and thinking of us as we work in Brazil. The Devondale Baptist Church in Lexington, KY, sent a special offering ($100) for brother Antônio in Ibicuitaba. He expresses his thanks to them.

The Bible Says. “He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion”. Psalm 111:4.
